This book is a lesson book, meant primarily for beginner to intermediate drummers interested in portraying a French drummer during the French & Indian War, American Revolutionary War, or Napoleonic Wars.
It includes:
- Guide to Traditional Grip and Striking the Drum
- Exercises for French Rudiments and Duty Calls
- Period Correct Music for all French Duty Calls
- Description of how to perform and when to use each duty call
For the most part, the duty calls did not change from the 1754 ordonnance to the 1831 ordonnance. Where there are changes, the music is noted and additional exercises and audio files are included.
