This book is a lesson book, meant primarily for beginner to intermediate drummers interested in portraying a Prussian or Hessian drummer during the Seven Years’ War, American Revolutionary War, or Napoleonic Wars.

It includes:

1. Guide to Traditional Grip and Striking the Drum
2. Exercises for Prussian Rudiments and Duty Calls
3. Period Correct Music for all Prussian Duty Calls
4. Description of how to perform and when to use each duty call

The duty calls are based on Winters (1777) drum manual and Kastner’s 1846 list of Prussian calls. They also consider how to score this drum music with fife tunes from the Darmstadt MS (c. 1750s – 1780s).
